about Krishana Yoga
I am a Christian Yoga practitioner for 9+ yrs sharing a Holy Spirit filled & anointed practice that purifies and invites the presence of the Lord based on 1 Corinthians 6:19.
The art of flexibility requires strength, patience and self-control in order to act with discipline and grace. Through a healthy yoga practice, we empower ourselves to experiment, fail and overcome, and ultimately cultivate a liberating sense of joy and peace.
I came to yoga half way through my bachelor’s degree, as I seriously considered giving up my opportunity to earn an Ivy League degree. I struggled with feelings of shame and regret. But God made beauty from ashes using my solitude and depression to bring me to meditation and yoga. After 9 years of practice, I am still benefiting from yoga and mediation and still learning all the time.
I completed my CYT-230 certification from the Asheville Yoga Center, after hitting it off with Jessamyn Stanley, author of Every Body Yoga. When the dates for their May immersion program lined up with my 27th birthday, I believed God was giving me a sign. I prayed about it and am so glad I followed the leading of the Holy Spirit to sign-up. Until this day, I blessed to see how God has anointed my practice and provided opportunities to share His Word, His Truth and His healing power through yoga.
My teachers have included Marie Foucault, Kimberly Puryear, Sierra Hollister and Barbara Burgess. (See my Lineage & Influences pages for more information.) Krishana Yoga movement is informed by the work of Mary Bond and Bessel van der Kolk. It is joint sensitive and alignment based. It draws from Christian, Hatha and contemplative traditions to provide intelligent sequencing and encourages the use of props, props, props!
Most recently, I brought this passion for sharing healthy lifestyles with my community to my public service. I share free yoga and meditation classes in library settings. My goal is to encourage holistic contemplation practices and integrate physical literacy for scholars.
